Not a lot of news on new releases for the serial fan right now.  Alpha Video is putting out a new single disc version of Shadow of the Eagle on the 26th of this month.  VCI lists the release of Dick Tracy Returns, Dick Tracy’s G-Men, and Dick Tracy vs Crime Inc. but no dates are set at this time.  They are still trying to restore Brenda Starr, Reporter, but as they are still missing two chapters, who knows when that will ever be coming out.  No word yet on whether the Serial Squadron will be able to finagle a DVD release of Daredevils of the West after it’s debut at Serialfest in May, but one must always keep up hope on these things.

Just a quick note, I have been e-mailing the people at Matinee at the Bijou blog with questions about the new show, and as they were answering them, they made mention of the fact they have seen my site and asked if I was interested in writing some articles for them about serials.  I wanted to be very nonchalant in my answer, cool and professional, but unfortunately I think I sounded more like the little beagle in the Warner cartoons who jumps around the bulldog chanting “What are we going to do today Spike?”  Any way, they have given me some much needed feedback on the kind of material they are looking for, so you might see me over on the Bijou blog very soon at www.matineeatthebijou.blogspot.com/.

I received an e-mail from Matinee at the Bijou the other day.  I had inquired about when the show would be debuting on PBS.  The hold up, as is usually the case in public television, was in the area of getting financial backing.  But things are looking good at this point for the new series to start this coming fall. Here’s hoping.  I personally can’t wait.
