CHAPTER THREE:THE WAR WAGON

Locking the door to the room, Conan then has Valeria climb onto his back while he tight rope walks toward the other side.  Yora and Balthus break through the door. Seeing that Conan and Valeria are getting away, Yora takes out his sword and slices through the rope.  Conan and Valeria  fall toward the ravine below.

Conan manages to grab on to the rope and swing them safely to a ledge in the rock wall. Climbing the rope, hand over hand, he gets to the top where his horse is waiting.  Riding double, Conan and Valeria race back to her father’s castle.

Thoth Amon keeps his word and frees Zula and Borack.  Conan is presented to Kull and Zenobia to be rewarded for his bravery.  When Conan tells the king of Doom’s proposed attack, Kull immediately makes Conan the captain of his Army and they prepare for the attack.

Doom takes his men to his work shop where he reveals his War Wagon, a horseless mechanical armored vehicle that will smash through the gates of the palace.  Doom chuckles ominously as he contemplates the reign  of destruction he is about to bring down on Kull’s kingdom.

The attack takes place at night.  While the war wagon is bashing at the front gate, Yora leads his men to put ladders against the castle walls to scale the walls and engage Kulls soldiers along the battlements.  At the gate, Kull’s soldiers are shooting fire out through openings at the War Wagon.

Conan, Zula and Borack are on the battlements, fighting Doom’s soldiers.  Conan leaps to attack Yora as he attempts to come over the wall.  Conan pushes the ladder Yora is on away from the wall, but Yora grabs onto Conan and both men fall to the ground outside of the castle.  Conan, stunned, is laying right in the path of a squad of Doom’s men on horseback.   Seeing him, they spur their horses forward to trample him to death……

CHAPTER TWO: TOWER OF DOOM

Conan is waylaid on the road to Doom’s tower, spurring his horse on, Conan leads the other men on a furious chase across the country side.  Coming to a gorge, and with Doom’s men fast approaching, Conan tries to leap his horse across the chasm to the other side.  The horse barely lands on the other side but can’t get any traction and they fall off the edge into the deep ravine below.
There is a lake at the bottom of the ravine.  Conan and his horse land safely in the water.  Conan swims to the bottom and stays there for several minutes.   Doom’s men watch the water and when they don’t see Conan surface they assume is dead and ride away.

Conan swims to the surface and makes his way to shore where he retrieves his horse.  Coming to the tower he sees it is heavily guarded, but notices a thick rope connects the tower to a  cliff wall.  Climbing the cliff, Conan tight rope walks across the rope into the tower.

Sneaking up on a guard, Conan strangles him into unconsciousness and takes his clothes.  Now dressed as a guard, he starts searching for the dungeon.  Coming upon Doom’s throne room, Conan listens from out in the hall and overhears Doom telling Yora and Balthus of his plan to use his new creation to attack Kull’s palace that night and take over the kingdom.

Conan slips away and finally locates the dungeon. Strangling another guard, he then frees Valeria, explaining he was sent to rescue her by Thoth Amon and that they have to warn her father that Doom is planning an attack.  They bump into Yora and Balthus. Conan fights them off, then they run for the room with the rope.

CHAPTER ONE: THE ROYAL PRISONER

In the kingdom of Hyboria, Yora and Balthus steal into the chambers of Princess Valeria and kidnap her.  She is taken to the tower of Thusa Doom, who feigns the part of a gracious host while telling her he plans to take over her fathers kingdom, then has her locked in his dungeon.  A message of her abduction is sent to her father King Kull, with the demand that Doom have free reign in the kingdom.  Queen Zenobia councils her husband to give in for the sake of their daughter.  Kull reluctantly agrees.

Some time later adventurer Conan, and his two companions Zula and Borak come upon a farmer and his family being attacked by Doom’s men.  They ride up and engage the men in a ferocious sword fight, eventually driving them off, but not before the farmer’s house is set on fire.  Conan and his friends help put the fire out.  When asked why the King’s soldiers aren’t patrolling, he is told that the King doesn’t seem to care anymore and allows the entire country side to be pillaged.

Riding into to town, they spot some of the men who had attacked the farm entering a tavern and go in after them.  Another fight breaks out, but this time the King’s soldiers do come and break it up, arresting Conan and his two companions for disturbing the peace.

While sitting in the King’s dungeon, they are visited by Thoth Amon, the King’s most trusted adviser.  He tells Conan of the Princess’ abduction and strikes a bargain with the adventurer, If Conan can rescue the Princess and return her to her father, he and his friends can go free, but Zula and Borak must remain in the jail as collateral.  Conan agrees.  He is given his weapons and horse, and shown the direction of Doom’s tower.

Doom has a spy in the castle, who learns of Conan’s bargain and sends a message to Doom by a trained bird.  When Doom reads the message, he goes down to the dungeon and taunts the Princess with what he plans to do to her would be rescuer and her father for not obeying him.  Doom dispatches Yora, Balthus, Salazar, Amulric and Kathulas to take care of Conan.
