Villain of the Month: Raphael Bennett
Raphael Bennett had a twenty year career in film and TV playing henchmen. His film career included appearances in Public Cowboy No 1 (1937), Texas Renegades (1940), Death Rides the Plains (1943), The Haunted Mine (1946), Kansas City Confidential (1952) and Giant (1955). His TV work included episodes of The Gene Autry Show, The Cisco Kid, Death Valley Days, Adventurres of Superman, Mr and Mrs North, The Roy Rogers Show, and Gunsmoke.
A prolific character actor like Bennett would of course work regularly in serials. His most prominant role was as Trigger Stark, one of the notorious Stark Gang in Republic’s Dick Tracy Returns (1938). His other Republic serial henchmen roles were in The Lone Ranger (1938) and Dick Tracy vs. Crime Inc (1941). Bennett also played minor villains in the Universal serials The Great Alaskan Mystery (1944) and Mystery of the Riverboat (1945).
