Hero of the Month: Robert “Buzz” Henry

Not all child actor stories turn into tragic stories of ended careers at adult hood that spiral into drugs and alcohol abuse.  Take Robert “Buzz” Henry.  An actor who started in films at the ripe old age of four in Western Frontier (1935).  Quickly billed as Buzz Henry the child actor worked steadily in B-westerns, even having a short lived series as Buzzy Harding in Buzzy Rides the Range (1940) and Buzzy and the Phantom Pinto (1941).

During the forties Henry also appeared in serials for Columbia; playing the kick sidekick in Hop Harrigan (1946), Son of the Guardsman (1946), and Tex Granger (1949).  During the fifties Henry started to do stunt work as well as act.  It wasn’t uncommon for him to act in a small role while also performing stunts in the same film, such as 3:10 to Yuma (1957) or Von Ryan’s Express (1965).  His last work before the unfortunate car accident that ended his life was stunting on John Wayne’s The Cowboys (1972).
