Serials a Comfort
I have suffered a personal tragedy this week, I had to put down my tortoise shell cat Patches. She was fifteen and had been suffering from a hyperthyroid problem. This Wednesday she developed heart failure. My wife and I were with her at the end. She was not the ideal pet, having been anti-social and agoraphobic from birth, but she was a member of our family and we loved her.
My wife and I are coping with the loss as best we can. For me a big comfort has been my beloved serials, and my gray tabby Nyoka. After work I will sit on the couch and watch a few chapters of Flash Gordon Conquers the Universe or Zorro’s Fighting Legion while Nyoka lays on my lap sleeping, she’s sixteen and isn’t as frisky as she used to be. She seems to know I’m sad and is doing her best to make me feel better. Her and my serials are a big help in getting me through this time, while I’m doing my best to help my wife with her grief, a big help for her is the online community of her game City of Heroes. I know we will get through this in time.
